About me

Marissa Mizeski was born and raised in New Jersey, where she still lives.

For as long as she can remember, Marissa has loved exploring nature and writing. She started journaling and writing poetry in elementary school and never stopped. Amelia is her first novel, the first in a series. 

Marissa has a BS in Environmental Studies from Gettysburg College and a CE in Elementary Education and Middle School Science. She started teaching kids about nature during a college summer nature camp job and was hooked.

She still teaches at nature camps, but her full-time job is teaching science to elementary school children at an independent school. She's been teaching for eight years and loves inspiring children to make their own nature discoveries!

When she's not teaching or writing, she's out birding, kayaking, cross county skiing, biking, gardening, or curled up at home with her two cats and four guinea pigs, surrounded by a forest full of birds and other wildlife!
